Quelle est la situation en Syrie ?
Quand la révolution syrienne fut déclenchée, elle n’était qu’un rêve : celui du peuple Syrien à vivre comme tous les autres peuples, en liberté.
Les syriens ont vécu jusqu’en 2011, pendant quarante ans, sous le despotisme de la famille al-Assad. En regardant le début des printemps arabes dans les pays voisins, les syriens ont imaginé qu’ils pourraient finalement se débarrasser de cet héritage « éternel », de cette condamnation infinie à vivre dans le silence et la peur. Malgré les souffrances infligées par ce régime, ils ne demandaient pas son départ. Ils ont rêvé de quelques petits changements pour vivre avec dignité: la liberté politique, la liberté de presse, l’annulation de l’état d’urgence, l’égalité sociale…
Les manifestations ont commencé pacifiquement. Mais le régime totalitaire hérité du père, Hafez al-Assad, qui considère la Syrie comme un bien privé, n’a pas supporté cette révolte.
