En Côte d’Ivoire, dans la ville de Bassam, les élections passent mal. Après le verdict des urnes, Georges Ezaley, le maire sortant du parti politique PDCI-RDA et candidat à sa propre succession refuse une fois de plus sa defaite.
Lors d’une conférence de presse, Maurice Kacou Guikahoué, le secrétaire exécutif du PDCI-RDA a révélé plusieurs irrégularités au Grand Bassam. Il s’agit notamment de 14 bureaux de votes traditionnels du PDCI-RDA saccagés qui comptent 6.137 électeurs inscrits, la destruction d’urnes et de bulletins par des individus non identifiés.
Ces incidents n’ont pas été pris en compte par la Commission Electorale Indépendante CEI, qui a déclaré Jean-Louis Moulot, candidat RHDP  (Rassemblement des houphouëtistes pour la démocratie et la paix, la coalition au pouvoir ) vainqueur avec 51,91% des suffrages, contre 45,72% pour George Ezaley.
Face à la Presse,  Maurice Kacou Guikahoué a annoncé que son parti, le PDCI-RDA, venait de porter un recours devant la chambre administrative pour la reprise du scrutin dans les centres où le vote a été annulé.

Pour le numéro 2 du plus vieux parti de Cote d’Ivoire, la CEI a proclamé les résultats sur la base de 35.447 inscrits alors que le collège électoral convoqué par le Président de la république est de 42.051 inscrits.

George Ezaley, lui a assuré avoir des arguments de droit pour faire invalider la victoire du candidat du RHDP.
Pour rappel, la commission électorale indépendante avait décidé de la reprise des conseillers municipaux dans plusieurs localités suite a plusieurs incident qui avaient émaillés ce scrutin. Cela conformément à ce que prescrit l’article 160 du code électoral ivoirien.
